My Day at the Park This afternoon I was over at the Duck Pond in Roseburg pruning a tree when a lady walked up from behind me and screamed that she was going to stab me in the heart. I immediately turned off my chainsaw, removed my ear plugs and asked her to repeat what she just said. I'm going to stab you in the heart, she said again. I immediately walked out into the open field in front of the Duck Pond and called police and reported the woman and the threats she was making. Over the next five minutes she threatened to smash out all the windows on my truck, she asked if I knew that rocks would f___ing kill my face and finally that she would kill me alive. That's not even the worst of it, but that's all I'm going to share. Police arrived and arrested her and she is in jail. A week or so ago she was called in for threatening another group of people in the same location. Apparently she has been sleeping in the bushes nearby. Couple of thoughts. First, the encouraging of people living on the streets to take up residence in our parks needs to stop. It's recklessly foolish! Second, this woman needs the help and services of a mental health facility somewhere and should be nowhere near the public. There is a small handful of folks like this in our community and for the life of me I don't understand why they are not being laser focused on to receive help. Where is the outreach? I've never once seen anyone doing outreach to those living on the streets in Roseburg. I've heard a lot of talk, but have seen no action. If nobody is doing it, and nobody is prioritizing those who need the most help, then we need to sit down and figure out how to change things. Third, I'll be back at park again tomorrow as long as it's not raining buckets. ๐Ÿค™

Very upsetting & sad scenario. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Mental health treatment is sorely needed, not only in Roseburg, but throughout the state... & the entire country for that matter. I'd be very hesitant to walk the paths in our parks these days without carrying something to protect myself.
